Why was it necessary to remake Halloween? Is Friday the 13th next? Nightmare on Elm Street?

If at first you don't succeed...

I want to see this one. Something about it looks really good!

I was a pure horror buff when I was a bit younger, but strangely enough, Haloween was one of the few movies I just never saw. :s

I don't really care, Rob Zombie's previous movies sucked, I have a feeling this will too.

How about since Halloween is being resurrected, have Jamie Lee Curtis in it. Why not?

HST, Halloween was the first horror movie I watched when I was home alone. I don't know how I survived the night.

Because it has already been done. Remember Halloween: H20? No? I wouldn't worry about it, you didn't miss much.

I realise that what I am about to state may look like I'm flip-flopping a little, especially when I have so staunchley defended remakes in the past, well, ok, some remakes. My defense has always been that if just one person out of every hundred that goes and sees the remake goes and watches the original then its a score........

HOWEVER

Its not as if Halloween is some small 'never-before-seen' little horror movie that has only ever played to a niche market, it is a giant in the horror franchise, it pretty much set the standards for what would later come to be known as the 'Slasher' film.

No wonder I am losing my faith in Hollywood (not that I've had that much faith in Hollywood since I was 15 or so, but you get the idea).

Edit: Speaking of which HERE is a review for said Rob Zombie "REIMAGING".

No, I didn't see Halloween H20. I would say I have some standards, but I've already told all y'all that TexasGuy and I enjoyed Grandma's Boy. I was kidding about Jamie Lee Curtis. I like Jamie Lee, but she's a little long in the tooth for the lead role, which is where my cheeky tongue was envisioning her, and way too preachy for me. I want to put a Family Guy clip here, but that clip is Friday the 13th and the wrong movie. LOL!

I won't hear a bad thing said against Jamie Lee, she was hot in Trading Places, and I think all the guys know which scenes I'm talking about there as well. The pause button on a remote is a wonderous gift to a teenage boy.
TexasGal
Of course she was. And Eddie Murphy was funny.

Amazing how much things have changed isn't it?
