Nothing bores and perplexes me more than watching a bunch of people (mostly guys) talking about which team picked up who in the first round draft pick and blah blah blah. I just don't get it. What is so appealing about not only watching someone else play a game, but actually keeping track of all the behind the scenes crap that leads up to the game?
Am I the only one here who thinks the whole thing is a bit silly? What does it matter which team wins or loses? It's just a game, and not even one that any of us are playing. But so many people are virtually obsessed with it, with a devotion which borders on being religious. People fight and riot over these things, and in rare cases have actually killed over this stuff. What the hell?
At least some people have the excuse of gambling on it, which means something is at stake, but even then it seems rather silly. Instead of wasting all that time and money tracking players and teams, you could use the same basic skills to find out the good stocks, and you would be much more likely to make some serious cash. Then again, not everyone enjoys economics as much as I do, but still, a lot more people get rich that way than score big betting on sports.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; The only sports worth watching are the three types of wrestling; Sumo, Gator, and Jello.

I'm a huge sports fan. I don't get into the whole draft thing, and shit like that. But I have favorite teams, players, drivers, etc. Don't know why, I just love sports. NOW BACK OFF!

oh yeah, as far as riots, killings, etc. The majority of that falls on soccer. so, there ya go.

Is it really a sport if a machine is doing all the work? Sure there is some skill involved, but not much more than is required for a video game. It's just a bit more dangerous...

I don't mean to demean motor sports (I too, love video games) just asking if the word sport is appropriate. Just like when people say golf (which I love) isn't a sport because you can't get hurt. Of course, they never played full contact golf...

Enjoy watching most sports, football (soccer) in particular.
Hate Golf & Cricket, bore the hell out of me.
Don't get massively excited about sports unless it's England doing well in the World Cup or European Championships or Barnsley doing well in the league or cup (neither of which happens that often).
As for the whole transfer and such side of sports, never been a big deal to me.
I guess you do have a point makeitstop, I've sat in the stands at Oakwell many a time listening to the fans bitching and moaning as if the match we're watching is the be all and end all.
And Boxing?, how can anyone not enjoy watching two blokes knock the shit out of each other?

The gloves. They don't even let 'em use the stinger no more.

Im not a huge fan of sorts. i do watch it sometimes on TV. but dats maybe when theres nothin else to watch. I like watching Basketball, Football (euro), Tennis and Motor sports..... grand prix, F1 etc.
My fav Sports person is Venus Williams. I think she is brilliant, considering how much she has achieved at her young age. she is talented, strong and determined.
