I've been dying to see this movie for months now. TexasGuy and I were prepared to go. We know to go to a late showing so we won't be there with the PG-13 children. But now it's getting the bad reviews we should have expected. The Dallas Morning News, which generally likes most movies, gave it a B-. Should we aim to see it anyway or wait for cable?

Holy crap, I want to see that movie! It looks sooo stupid, but soooo funny!

Also, if you haven't seen one yet, check out a preview for Balls of Fury, starring George Lopez and Christopher Walken. it looks great.

I'm thinking will ferrel is at a crossroads right now. He can continue to make these stupid comedies, which will result in a few more half decent flicks and then quick nose dive for his career. Or, he can diversify a bit (as seen in the superb stranger than fiction) and try and do more than just the same old thing, though hopefully giving us the same craziness sometimes too. It's really a choice of following adam sandler or jim carrey.

Honestly, I just can't get excited for another stupid will ferrel movie. I havent checked the reviews, but if I see some good signs from the sources I trust, I may check it out eventually. These kinds of movies just get real old real fast though, so I don't really care all that much.

I have to agree. But dramatic roles haven't really worked box office-wise for any of them. How much critical acclaim have Carrey's or Sandler's dramatic roles gotten either? I loved Carrey in The Majestic, but I was the only one. I only like Sandler when he's more low key. Will Farrell should have gotten loads of recognition for Stranger Than Fiction. He was so good and so unexpected.

Carrey's received plenty of praise for Eternal Sunshine, The Truman Show etc. Ferrell is hit and miss, I find; Anchorman and Dodgeball were worth a giggle, but Talladega Nights and the like just don't do it for me. Sandler, meanwhile, has a special place in my hell reserved for him, although I don't know why.
