**WARNING**
**THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS**
Have you ever been watching a film and then found the hairs on the back of your neck standing to attention? Ever been moved to tears by a profound performance?
This is a chance to share with everyone here (as well as all those crafty spambots) the scenes from films that have really stood out.
The last time I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up is during the opening sequence of Casino Royale. The bit where the blacked out figure is walking towards the screen, then it changes to Daniel Craig, then blacks out again, all the while Chris Cornell is screaming "YOU KNOW MY NAME"... I saw that as the best F*** You to all those craignotbond.com gits who had nothing better to do with their time than to slag off a performance that hadn't even happened yet. Brilliant, just brilliant.
Obviously, there have been plenty of others (I could write an essay on Fight Club alone), but I just got reminded of that today when listening to said song.
So, what is it for you?
Did you cry when E.T. died? Did you punch the air with glee during Ocean's 11? Come, pick your stand out moments in cinema.

We you can't really go past "No Luke. I am your Father"
some other
HAL sings Daisy - 2001: A Space Odyssey
Chest Burster - Alien
Three Guys on a Boat - Jaws
Shower - Psycho
Birds at the school - The Birds
Neo has powers - The Matrix
D-Day - Saving Private Ryan

Agreed with D-Day, Saving Private Ryan.
Mars Attacks, when the Martian spy-gal is killed an the Martians go all-out on destroying earth.
End of Evangelion, at the end, where "Kom Susser Tod"(a song) kicks in, and the world starts ending.
War of the Worlds, where the machine first rises from the ground and proceeds to destroy everything around it.
I'm starting to see a pattern here, but they're not all like this.
The final few scenes of "Click", where Adam Sandler's life is just skipping before his eyes.
The end of Angelas Ashes, where Frank is preparing to leave for America.
And some unexpected ones:
Ash introducing the medieval "primitive screwheads" to his boomstick in "Army of Darkness".
The final scene of Bubba Ho-tep, where all three main characters (Elvis, JFK and the Evil Cowboy Mummy) die and become constellations.
And finally,
The last episode of Father Ted, where Ted is preparing to leave Craggy Island and they have that montage.

There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of such moments in Scrag's memory.
A couple to begin with, but I'll more than likely be back with more.
Glory, a couple from this movie.
First off, the lashing scene, Denzel Washington's character Private Trip is punished for leaving camp to find some boots that fit. He's caught and whipped for desertion, as the guy goes to rip off Trip's shirt he shrugs him off and removes the shirt himself to reveal his scarred back from years of being whipped as a slave and stands and takes the whipping staring Col. Shaw (Matthew Brodrick) in the eye, a single tear rolling down his cheeks as the lashes rain down.
& the final suicidal charge on Fort Wagner to James Horner's magnificent score in the final scene.
More soon.

for me...the most intense scene i've ever seen in film is the "bullet proof cloak" scene in crash...when the little girl goes out to protect her dad...
others would be
when guido walks around the corner and you hear gunfire and german soldier comes out but not guido...life is beautiful
the scene in dead mans shoes when you realise why he is taking revenge on the drug dealers in his town.
bang rajan after the last battle.
the magician...the opening scene before you realise its a film and not a documentary.
city of god...the hand or the foot.

And finally,
The last episode of Father Ted, where Ted is preparing to leave Craggy Island and they have that montage.
even Rocky had a montage...A MONTAGE

Not so much a scene, but the first half of Full Metal Jacket . A great film, don't get me wrong, but the ferocity of the opening act and its realism blew me away. The actual war segment was good, but nowhere near the same standard.
The scene in Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet where Mercutio is killed also stood out.

Just watched Little Miss Sunshine again. When Olive dances at the pageant, her dad stops being such a detached motivational speaker, starts being a dad, and dances with her, that's the moment. Then when the rest of the family gets up there to dance too is icing on the cake.

The climax of stranger than fiction when:

harold is running to the bus, and all the pieces are coming together, and finally he gets hit by the bus, and the author is shaking and crying trying to finish the scene. One of the most intense scenes in any comedy I can remember
The untouchables: The opera/hit scene and the interrogation at the border scene
unleashed: pretty much the entire final fight scene, but particularly the bit with the man in the white robes.
House of flying daggers: the brutal fist fight in the snow
Dead on arrival:
the opening scene, when the man walks into the police station to report a murder, and when they ask who was murdered he says "I was"
Seven samurai: Kikuchyo's speech condemning the villagers and then turning it around to condemn the samurai.
LOTR TTT: The scene when smeagol has his little heart broken and goes crawling back to gollum.
Batman begins: The first time he takes on the enemies, where we see the attack from their point of view. And all the other scenes that kicked ass.

This is a TV show and is generally a TV show I am very tired of (I now only like Season 6). The series finale of Buffy The Vampire Slayer aired today. When Willow harnessed the power of the scythe to unleash all the Potential Slayers all over the world, I tingled and got a little teary. Especially when the daughter was finally able to stop her abusive father from beating her.

Yeah just like Makeitstop I'd definitely say Braveheart Freedom scene and X2 opening scene. I'd add : Million Dollar Baby which made me go from hapiness to anger and then sadness ,really touching. I've got a little something for Scream (I mean not the saga but the first one) the opening scene "I like to know who I am watching !" and Goldeneye the whole first scene in the russian base ! I had to put my jaw back in place after it ! Simply a master piece !

The rainy scene in last samurai when Tom Cruise picks up the bokken and Ujio proceeds to kick his ass over and over again. Great on so many levels.
Theoden's speech before the big battle in the two towers. Brilliant.

Indeed, every time I see a bunch of people getting all nasty and vicious when politics comes up, I always think of that line "
What can men do against such reckless hate?"

I don't normally watch animals in peril movies, but I was at my neighbors' yesterday when she was watching Eight Below. Thankfully it was at the end after all the bad stuff happened to the dogs.
Tingles when the crew finds the dogs.
More tingles when the one dog leads them back to the other injured dog and she's not dead!

the look of regret in Richard's face is some of the best acting i've ever seen
