There is evidence to suggest that children are highly susceptible to paranormal phenomena. They see what adults cannot. They believe what adults deny. And they are trying to warn us.

I saw a preview of The Messengers other night, expecting another cheesy horror movie, but have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised.

Not particularly original, but still a well shot film that combines aspects of various classics (including Hitchock´s The Birds) to good effect. The storyline is solid, performances decent and it certainly makes a change from the cheesy slasher horror movies that we've been served up of late.

I´m mentioning it now, as it´s being released here in the UK on April 6th. I think it´s been out in the States a few weeks, so just wondering what other people thought as I´ve not heard too much about it here yet.

I didn't really like it either. Definately a C horror movie. Nothing special or original.

Bit harsh, but I like hearing different people's opinions! If we all liked the same thing, the world would be a very dull place.

So you saw it? And you liked it? Good! I can't wait for it to come to cable. None of the critics or anyone said anything good about it here and then it tanked at the box office. I still wanted to see it, but it's a wait for cable movie.

You're absolutely right about all the different tastes making the movie reels spin. Take a look at the thread about the IMDb top 100 list. I'm so out of my league in movies seen.

hehe... I'm a bit out of touch with a lot of the movies out here at the moment. But yeah, I caught The Messengers by accident and enjoyed it.

The weather's been really good here in the UK this past week, so not sure what or when I'll go to the cinema next, but maybe next weekend. I need to check to see what's out/coming out.

As for The Messengers... although Kristen Stewart was good in the role, I just read that Scout Taylor-Compton had auditioned for it (she'll be in the remake of Halloween... now that is a bad career move!). I remember ST-C from a few episodes of Charmed a couple of years back and think she might actually have made a better Jess in The Messengers.

And for a friend of mine who visits the forum daily... you know who you are(!)... the movie's out in Brazil on 20th April, so only 2 weeks after being released here (in the UK)... tchau linda
