We're going over to her parents' house tomorrow night and we've been givin the privelage of picking out a couple of movies to rent.

Any good new releases you could recommend that we could watch with her parents? I haven't checked out the movie store in a couple weeks, really.

Borat. biggrin.gif It's the sort of thing even older folks love because it reminds them of candid camera.

always recommend life is beautiful...but thats just me...

Ok, so I'm probably a bit late for this, but hey, when has that ever stopped me before?

The Dish is pretty good for family viewing. I showed it to my in-laws a while ago and it went down a storm.

The secret to picking a film for the other halfs folks is getting something thats easy yet enjoyable. For as much as I want people to watch the Requiem For A Dream and Old Boy of the world, they aren't really suitable for her parents, if you know what I mean.

Gah, but what do I know, they could be hardcore horror fans, getting down with Zombie Flesh Eaters every night.

Borat?! I don't think so. Although, that sounds exactly like the type of punishment I would subject my father-in-law to.

I vote for Little Miss Sunshine and Stranger Than Fiction for new release rentals.

Aww, come on. laugh.gif You have to admit, Borat is kinda funny. tongue.gif Even if only for the hotel scene.

I'm with TexasGal on this one, if you're going with a new (ish) release, Little Miss Sunshine.

Borat was very disapointing IMO and kind of annoying.

No. I'd have to admit I haven't seen Borat. What I have seen is beyond even my limit for good taste. I realize I'll probably eat those words as soon as it comes to cable and TexasGuy and I watch it then.

I meant it about my father-in-law, though. It was unintentional, but we got in the habit of going to the worst movies with him (Lucky Numbers, Stuck on You, Scary Movie 3). Then he decided he was picking the movies and chose Meet the Fockers. blink.gif His last choice was End of the Spear. I'm not letting him choose ever again.

A grown-up comedy like Little Miss Sunshine or The Dish would work, although any "mature" film would be good. As long as it's not overly violent or rude, choose it. FOr example, what would you watch with your parents?

It obviously depends on their tastes, but I must say that the dish has actually saved my @$$ in similar situations a few times.

I also second stranger than fiction, and I think big fish is about as universally acceptable and enjoyable as any movie I can think of.

Of course it's been a month so this is all pointless anyway, but I still enjoy the discussion.
