If there is one director in the Hollywood system that you never know quite what he is gong to come out with next, it surely has to be the enigma that is David Lynch.

In the past couple of days or so I have been on a bit of a Lynchian mission, watching such gems as Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, The Straight Story, The Elephant Man, Lost Highway, I even braved Dune again (something I will try not to make a habit of). Next up will be the marathon that is Twin Peaks season one (and season two when its finally released).

So, to the point of this thread. What would you say is his greatest gift to the world of cinema thus far? What film did he truely drop the ball on? Are you looking forward to Inland Empire?

Come on, there has to be a few fans out there in Cinephiliac world, doesn't there?

I really liked Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart. They're my favorite Lynch films.

Elephant Man and Eraserhead are different, but I wouldn't want to see them again.

I still haven't figured out Lost Highway. What is that about??

Ok, my take on it is this:

A guy who's life/world is falling apart creates a fantasy life/world for himself to live in, which then starts falling apart. Thus saying, if your fantasy world starts falling apart you are truely fucked.

But hey, its all about interpretation.

Arguably Lynch's finest hour, it has probably the best Dennis Hopper performance to date, however, be warned, this ain't no easy Sunday afternoon flick, its got teeth.

Saw Inland Empire at the cinema, fantastic film, 9/10. I've seen Dune, and I wasn't a big fan unsurprisingly. I have Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet on DVD so I'll be watching them soon.
