Has anybody notice how all the oldies are being remade? I think this is great. The same great movies from my childhood are coming back for my children. (And they think they are new)
I wonder if the writers are running out of ideals. I mean there can only be so many out there. The reto movies that are being redone are being done great!! The special effects and makeup is much better then when they where first filmed. I hope the movie industry keeps up the great work remaking these great pieces of art.

I'm with you on this, to a point.

YEs, I think its great that some films are being remade, as if just a few of the people who see the remake go and see the original, then that can only be a good thing. I feel the same way about the current trend in Asian movie remakes.

It just bugs the hell out of me when they go and remake an OK film. Take The Hills Have Eyes for instance. Not that great a movie, but hey, horror is in vogue at the moment, so lets remake it. I've not seen the remake, so can't comment on its quallity, but the original was very 'meh'.

There have been some great remakes (John Carpenter's The Thing), some not so good (Poseidon) and some that are just bloomin' awful (Gus Van Sant's shot for shot remake of Psycho).

As for Hollywood running out of ideas, well, yes that would seem to be the case, but having said this, I find that Hollywood is a very insular part of the movie industry, so the original ideas that this group can come up with have pretty much dried up, but looking at the rest of the world, there are still plenty of great stories left to be told.

Hey, great reply thanks. I see we see a lot of things the same way. I’ve been waiting for a good real life drama to come out like let’s say the father that went for help while his family was trapped in the snowy mountains. Only later to be found dead. I think some films like this would be good, but they would probably just be on television.
