Sweetness
I saw an advertisement on TV the other day which advertised some of Walt Disneys better known movies from the past. Unfortunately, I forget which ones but they are ones I'm interested in getting.

They are apparently going on sale on DVD within the next couple of months and then they will be taken off the market and put back in their vault for all time.

Not only, would it be great to get these movies to watch on TV but I'm even thinking of getting 2 of each so that one would stay in the package as a collector's item.

Have any of you seen this advertisement and are you interested in getting them for posterity's sake?

No, and Hell No, respectively.

yea i saw those commercials....i think snow white was one of them....but that's most likely a load of crap though.....i'm sure they'll bust them out in a couple years again, saying they're not gonna sell them anymore.....seems like a marketing ploy just to get you to buy them

It's nothing new, they've been doing this for years. It's the same thing mcdonalds does with the mcrib (the only sandwich they have that is worth eating) where they release it for a limited time, then yank it off the market for a while to keep demand high.

The Little Mermaid was released recently on Special Edition which is a great all singing all dancing Disney at its best spectacular. But i never like Disney's ploy of you can only get it for a short period before it goes back to the vault. Gimmicks bleh!

These films will be brought back out of the vault after a brief stint in eternity to help sell blu-rays.

Every time a Disney movie is re-released on video it goes back in the vault for "all time". It's a marketing ploy. Think how many times Disney advertised that when the only format we were buying was VHS. There will always be a reason to re-release a movie to make more money.

I never got into the hype about it being gone forever once it is locked in the vault. As long as there is ebay and other similar sites I will not have a problem finding them. Some of the movies I just want to have because I remember them as a kid like Little Mermaid, Bambi, and the Lion King.
