Film follows 32 World Cup fans
The fortunes of fans from the 32 World Cup hopefuls will be filmed
Filmmakers from 32 nations are teaming up to follow a soccer fan from every country taking part in the World Cup.
It is part of a 90-minute documentary being made by student filmmakers at the International Film School Wales (IFSW).
Called Our World Is Round, the film will follow the football fans as they follow their team in the contest.
As the teams get knocked out of the competition, the film loses one of its subjects until there is just the fan of the winning country.
The film was the idea of 24-year-old producer Nina Gertenberger and filmmakers Nathan Mackintosh, Kurt Williams and Iain Paterson, who are all students at the Newport based film school.
The group are now looking for sponsors for the film which they hope will get worldwide distribution on DVD.
Ms Gertenberger said: "We're recruiting film-makers from each of the 32 countries competing in the finals in Germany to follow one fan who will be supporting their team - either by travelling to see the matches live or watching them at home.
"As each team is knocked out of the competition so we lose that fan - until we're left with one fan who's supporting the winning team.
"The result will be a film that is not just for fanatical footy fans but for everybody who likes human interest stories.
"It will focus on the fans' personal stories, individual lives and unique characters and show how football can unite a divided world and brings diverse individuals together from every walk of life."
