There seems to be a race for the project of filming Alexander the Great.
Between Baz & Oliver there is a star-studded cast. These Are Them. Name: Alexander Director: Oliver Stone Cast: Colin Farrell (Alexander), Angelina Jolie (Alexander's mother Olympias), Elliot Cowan (Ptolemy) Val Kilmer (Alexander's father Philip). The other Alexander project, but the story remains the same: Based on the incredible life of Alexander the Great, we see him conquer the then known world, and deal with troubles at home. Think Gladiator, think Troy, think millions of dollars on the screen. Name: Alexander the Great Directed By:Baz Luhrmann Cast: Leonardo Di Caprio (Alexander) Mel Gibson (His Father) Nicole Kidman (His Mother) Studio: Dreamworks, Universal, Warner Bros Cinema release date: 2005-12-00 These are some Pics Of Stone's Project The one on the bottom was taken in Summer 2003 This post has been edited by Rhemy: Feb 3 2004, 08:36 PM

To Note that filming by Stone was halted in Morocco due to the suicide attack in Casablanca; They could have gone to Australia because they needed a neutral country which could provide a very essential feature for the film: A Desert.

Tough i think Stone's having the cake:
They are currently in thailand and this is a reason why pix are so rare about the upcoming movie BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Oliver Stone has summoned 20 armor-clad elephants and hundreds of actors to central Thailand to shoot scenes for his latest epic, "Alexander." But apparently the writer-director doesn't want anyone else around. "It's a closed set," said publicist Michael Singer. "It's to allow the production to go ahead without distractions." With few exceptions, the media has been barred from visiting the set of the film about Alexander the Great, which stars Colin Farrell as the Macedonian conqueror. Furthermore, cast members said they'd been warned not to take their own photographs of a battle scene being filmed this week in Lopburi province, 71 miles north of Bangkok. "We've been warned that if Oliver sees us with a camera, he'll storm over, stomp all over the camera and personally escort you off the set," said an actor who asked not to be identified. The team is shooting scenes in which Alexander confronts an Indian king, Porus, during his invasion of India in 325 B.C. More filming is planned in northeastern Ubon Ratchathani province in coming weeks. Filming also took place on location in Morocco and at studios near London since the production began last September. The film is scheduled for release in November. "Alexander" co-stars Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins and Val Kilmer. It was unknown whether any of the stars will be filming in Thailand. -------------------- Red Bull Galvanised Brain

New movie Alexander has been thrown into disarray after director Oliver Stone discovered he shot the final scenes on damaged film. The Natural Born Killers film-maker - who has been shooting the movie in the Far East with Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie - will now have to go back and re-shoot the scenes after he discovered they were unusable when he viewed the rushes in Uban, Thailand. Stone had originally shot the final scenes of his movie in Bangkok, but thinks the film was damaged when it went through airport checks before being delivered They passed the film reels through X-ray - D-oh! Not a fan either director(I detest Olly Stone & Luhrman movies are overly reliant on visual impact) so I'm a bit apprehensive about these films. I wish someone in the mould of Minghella had taken on one of these projects...

Vangelis to score Stone's Alexander film
Academy Award Winner Vangelis To Compose Score For Oliver Stone's Untitled Alexander The Great Project Academy Award winning composer Vangelis will write the musical score for Oliver Stone's UNTITLED ALEXANDER THE GREAT PROJECT which is currently shooting at Pinewood Studios in London. Vangelis' score will mark the fist time the Greek composer has worked with multiple Academy Award winner Oliver Stone. The soundtrack will be released on Sony Classical. Vangelis, best known for his score for Hugh Hudson's CHARIOTS OF FIRE , has also composed the memorable scores of numerous motion pictures including Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER and 1492: CONQUEST OF PARADISE, Costa-Gavras' MISSING, Roman Polanski's BITTER MOON and Roger Donaldson's THE BOUNTY . In addition to his Academy Award for CHARIOTS OF FIRE Vangelis has also been nominated for 2 Golden Globe awards and 3 BAFTA awards for his motion picture scores. "I've always admired Oliver's films. And, of course, Alexander the Great is a story that's a natural part of my heritage. So, to be composing for this film with Oliver Stone directing makes it an especially exciting experience for me," said Vangelis. THE UNTITLED ALEXANDER THE GREAT PROJECT is an Intermedia/IMF production. The film is written and directed by 3-time Academy Award-winner Oliver Stone and stars Colin Farrell in the title role, leading an international cast including Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins, Val Kilmer, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The film is being produced by Thomas Schuehly, Moritz Borman, Jon Kilik and Iain Smith. -------------------- Red Bull Galvanised Brain
